BEFORE YOU ARRANGE COLLECTION
How can we help?
Choose a question below. For anything specific to your vehicle or collection address, speak to our team.
What happens after I send a scrap car enquiry?
Start with your vehicle registration and collection postcode, then send your contact details. Our team will review the information and contact you by phone or email about your quote. Have details of the car’s condition ready, including whether it starts, rolls and steers, and tell us about any damage or missing parts. Sending the form does not confirm a booking. You can also call the team directly.
Start your scrap car enquiryIs collection free, and which areas do you cover?
We offer free scrap car collection in Manchester and the surrounding areas we cover. Give us the collection postcode so we can confirm your location. Mention any access restrictions, such as a narrow entrance, locked gate or height barrier, when arranging collection.
Check the areas we coverCan you collect my vehicle the same day?
Same-day collection may be available, depending on your location and the collection schedule. Call us with your registration, postcode and access details, and the team will confirm the available collection times.
Call 0161 3270112What documents do I need, and who tells DVLA?
Have your V5C log book ready if available, and ask the team which identity and address documents are needed. Tell us before booking if the log book or keys are missing. You remain responsible for notifying DVLA when you sell or scrap your vehicle; keep the handover details and confirmation. If you do not have a V5C, follow DVLA’s instructions for a transfer without a log book.
Read the car collection checklistHow is payment arranged? Can I be paid in cash?
Payment is arranged on collection, with the details confirmed by our team when booking. A vehicle being scrapped in England or Wales must be paid for by bank transfer or cheque; cash payment is not permitted. Confirm MBR’s payment method and arrangements before collection.
GOV.UK: payment for scrapped vehiclesCan I discuss selling my vehicle instead of scrapping it?
Yes. Send us your vehicle details so our team can discuss it with you. Use Sell My Car, Sell My Van or Sell My Motorcycle. Describe its condition accurately, including faults or damage. An enquiry starts a conversation and does not guarantee an offer or a particular outcome.
Should I sell or scrap my car?Does MBR scrap or process vehicles itself?
MBR provides vehicle collection and transport to scrapyards; we do not process vehicles ourselves. We work with EMR Salford and S. Norton at Trafford Park. End-of-life treatment takes place at a third-party authorised treatment facility. Ask our team about the receiving facility and the paperwork for your collection.
